DESCRIPTION:
The Book of Field and Roadside offers the naturalist a wealth of information not found in typical field guides. Once you know a plant's name, you want to learn more about its natural history: where and how it grows, how it survives in the wild, what animals feed on it and depend on it for shelter, In straightforward, nontechnical language complemented by fine line drawings, John Eastman presents detailed portraits of wildflowers, trees, and weeds commony found in open-country settings: meadows and regenerating fields, and along roads and trails.
John Eastman is a wildlife biologist and the author of numerous articles and books on the natural world, including Birds of Forest, Yard, and Thicket; Birds of Lake, Pond and Marsh; and Birds of Field and Shore, as well as The Book of Forest and Thicket and The Book of Swamp and Bog. Illustrator Amelia Hansen's work has appeared in all of John Eastman's books, as well as in Wildlife of Pennsylvania and Wildlife of Virginia and Maryland. Both author and illustrator live in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
